Pelatihan berbasis artificial intelligence untuk pengembangan kompetensi pedagogik guru bahasa inggris di sekolah menengah islam

Abstract

The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) presents both opportunities and challenges for English language teaching at the secondary school level. At one MA Muhammadiyah in Malang, English teachers face limitations in AI literacy and practical skills required to integrate AI technologies into teaching in a pedagogically effective, critical, and responsible manner. This Community Partnership Program (PKM) aims to enhance teachers' understanding of AI literacy, develop their practical competencies in utilizing AI tools, and foster reflective attitudes toward AI integration in education. The program employed a participatory approach consisting of awareness-raising activities, hands-on workshops, mentoring, limited-scale implementation, and evaluation. Training focused on the pedagogical use of AI applications, including ChatGPT, Grammarly, and Google Speech-to-Text, to support the teaching of grammar, reading, listening, and speaking. All activities were designed to align with the needs and context of the participating school. The program resulted in the development of a learning module entitled Integrating Artificial Intelligence into English Language Teaching: A Practical Module for High School Teachers, improved teacher knowledge and skills in AI integration, and the publication of a community engagement article. Program outcomes are also disseminated through local media and institutional platforms to ensure broader impact and sustainability
